Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the MyUniConnectUK platform. By creating an account or using any part of our service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and MYUNICONNECTUK LTD (company number 17182602). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the platform.

MyUniConnectUK is a student-built platform designed to connect UK university students with peers, societies, events, and partner opportunities.

2.1 Who can use the platform

The platform is open to:

• Current students enrolled at a UK university or college
• Recent graduates (within 12 months of completing their degree)
• Partner organisations approved by MyUniConnectUK

By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you meet the eligibility criteria above. We reserve the right to verify your student status at any time and to suspend or terminate accounts where eligibility cannot be confirmed.

2.2 Age requirement

You must be at least 16 years old to use this platform. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained the consent of a parent or guardian where required, and that your use of the platform is permitted under applicable law.

2.3 Account security

You are responsible for:

• Keeping your login credentials confidential
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Notifying us immediately at contact@myuniconnectuk.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to keep your account secure.

3.1 What you may do

You may use the platform to:

• Create and maintain a student or partner profile
• Connect and communicate with other registered users
• Discover and sign up for events, societies, and opportunities
• Share content relevant to the student community
• Access partner listings and opportunities posted on the platform

3.2 What you must not do

You must not use the platform to:

• Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, obscene, or discriminatory
• Impersonate any person, organisation, or university
• Upload or distribute malware, viruses, or any harmful code
• Scrape, harvest, or collect data about other users without their consent
• Use the platform for unsolicited commercial messaging or spam
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or its systems
• Post or share content that infringes any third party's intellectual property rights
• Use the platform in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation
• Facilitate or encourage others to do any of the above

We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that breaches these rules, without prior notice.

3.3 Partner-specific obligations

If you access the platform as a partner organisation, you additionally agree to:

• Only post accurate, lawful, and relevant content targeted at students
• Not use student contact details obtained through the platform for purposes other than those agreed with us
• Comply with all applicable advertising and marketing regulations, including the UK CAP Code
• Notify us promptly of any changes to your organisation's status or contact details

4.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of any content you post on the platform ("User Content"), including posts, messages, profile information, and uploads. By posting User Content, you grant MyUniConnectUK a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the platform for the purpose of operating and promoting the service.

4.2 Content standards

All User Content must:

• Be accurate and not misleading
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
• Not infringe the rights of any third party
• Not contain personal data about other individuals without their consent

4.3 Moderation

We reserve the right (but are not obligated) to review, moderate, edit, or remove any User Content at our discretion, including content that we consider to be in breach of these Terms or otherwise harmful to our community.

4.4 Reporting

If you encounter content that you believe violates these Terms, please report it to us at contact@myuniconnectuk.com. We will review reports and take appropriate action.

All intellectual property rights in the platform, including its design, software, branding, logos, and original content produced by MyUniConnectUK, are owned by or licensed to MYUNICONNECTUK LTD. Nothing in these Terms transfers any such rights to you.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without our prior written consent.

The MyUniConnectUK name, logo, and associated marks are trademarks of MYUNICONNECTUK LTD. You must not use them without our written permission.

Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

By using the platform, you confirm that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy, available at www.myuniconnectuk.com/privacy-policy.

We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The platform may contain links to third-party websites, resources, and partner content. These are provided for your convenience only. We do not endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party sites.

Your interactions with third-party sites and any transactions you enter into with them are entirely at your own risk. We encourage you to read the terms and privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

8.1 Platform availability

We aim to provide a reliable and continuously available platform, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may suspend or restrict access to the platform for maintenance, updates, or other operational reasons, with or without notice.

8.2 Accuracy of content

While we take reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy of content on the platform, we do not warrant that all content - including partner listings, event information, and user-generated content - is accurate, complete, or up to date. You should verify important information independently before relying on it.

8.3 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MYUNICONNECTUK LTD shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform
• Loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill
• Any loss arising from User Content posted by other users
• Any interruption, suspension, or termination of the platform

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

8.4 Consumer rights

If you are a consumer (i.e. you are using the platform for personal, non-commercial purposes), nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection legislation.

9.1 By us

We may suspend or permanently terminate your access to the platform at any time, with or without notice, if:

• You breach any of these Terms
• We reasonably suspect fraudulent or unlawful activity on your account
• You are no longer eligible to use the platform
• We discontinue the platform or any part of it

9.2 By you

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at contact@myuniconnectuk.com. On account closure, your profile will be deactivated and your personal data handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9.3 Effect of termination

On termination, your right to access the platform ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination - including intellectual property, content licences, disclaimers, and governing law - shall continue to apply.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the platform and may close your account.

The "last updated" date at the top of this document will always reflect the most recent revision.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.

We encourage you to contact us at contact@myuniconnectuk.com in the first instance to resolve any dispute informally before pursuing legal action.

If you are registering as a partner organisation, the following additional terms apply alongside the general Terms above.

12.1 Partner approval

All partner registrations are subject to review and approval by MyUniConnectUK. We reserve the right to decline or revoke partner status at our discretion, particularly where a partnership would be inconsistent with our mission or harmful to our student community.

12.2 Partner content

Partners are responsible for ensuring that all content, listings, and communications posted through the platform are:

• Accurate, lawful, and not misleading
• Compliant with the UK CAP Code and all applicable advertising regulations
• Relevant and appropriate for a student audience
• Free from discriminatory, offensive, or exploitative material

12.3 Student data

Partners must not attempt to collect, scrape, or otherwise obtain student personal data from the platform other than through mechanisms expressly provided by MyUniConnectUK. Any use of student data shared with partners must comply with UK GDPR and the terms of any data sharing agreement in place.

12.4 Partner liability

Partners are solely responsible for the content they post and the opportunities they advertise. MyUniConnectUK does not endorse partner organisations or verify the accuracy of partner listings, and shall not be liable for any loss suffered by students arising from their engagement with a partner.

Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MyUniConnectUK in relation to your use of the platform.

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.

Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of our right to do so in the future.

Assignment: You may not transfer or assign your rights or obligations under these Terms to any third party. We may assign our rights to a successor business without your consent.

No partnership: Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and MyUniConnectUK.
